TSMC: Smartphones Continues to Be the Main Growth Momentum

TAIPEI, Taiwan - TSMC today said at its investor conference, the smartphone is still its main growth momentum, benefited by that, TSMC will remain approximately 10% revenue growth in the next five years.

Mark Liu, TSMC Co-CEO, said that with more functions and integrations in smartphones, will drive the demands of silicon chips to grow, he expected smartphones is still a major growth momentum of TSMC in the next few years.
In addition to smartphones, IoT will be another new driving force for TSMC. Mark Liu said: "IoT will bring new growth opportunities. Not only in the sensors, connectivity and advanced system packaging, IoT-related services will also give space to grow."
Mark Liu pointed out, IoT-related services and applications, such as big data analysis, will bring out new demands for computing semiconductors, such as the application processor, network processor, image processor, graphic processor and microcontrollers.
In the long run, as the IoT services raising and the continuing development of smartphones, TSMC is very optimistic about the revenue growth in the coming years.
