Taiwanese Telecommunication Providers Take on the IoT Businesses

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile and FETnet are three leading telecommunication providers in Taiwan, all of them are going to take on the Internet of Things (IoT) businesses in different aspects and fields. FETnet eyes the Internet of Vehicles, and introduced Ericsson’s technology. As well as Chungwa penetrated the smart home, while Taiwan Mobile cooperated with Advantech to develop the industrial IoT.

FETnet said that Internet of Vehicles are leading by automobile companies, internationally. However, the reliable and efficient local information and telecommunication platform are needed so that the company developed RFID to collect the road conditions.

More than that, if RFID were used in parking lot, two thousand vehicles can be parked properly within 40 minutes.

Taiwan Mobile announced the collaboration with Advantech on May 6 in an attempt to roll out the first industrial IoT here in Taiwan. The company aims at using IaaS computing cloud plus the key software WebAccess of Advantech in a bid to be fast introduced to industrial IoT.

Last but not the least, Chunghwa Telecom debuted its smart home solution CHT Smart Home, which facilitated wireless transmission that users can simply deal with home environmental sensing, safety control, high resolution timely images and records through a smartphone.
