ZenFone Go to First Power by MediaTek’s Processor

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Asus’s ZenFone currently is powered by chipsets from Intel and Qualcomm, it is widely circulted that the company’s ZenFone Go will be powered by MediaTek’s processor. And ZenFone Go is going to hit the market on the end of July.

According to Asus, the ZenFone Go will be the first ZenFone series that is powered by MediaTek’s quad-core chipset.

However, Asus has become more and more dominant in the entry-level smartphone market, especially in the Southeast Asian smartphone market. Asus came with a market share of 5 percent, after the two top tech giants, Samsung and Apple, based on the latest data compiled by industry tracker IDC.

Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus, revealed that the company’s 4G LTE handset will use chipsets from Intel and Qualcomm, whereas 3G handset will be powered by chipsets of Intel and MediaTek. On the other hand, Jerry Shen suggested that the ZenFone sales percentage will be 40 percent Qualcomm, 30 percent Intel and 30 percent MediaTek.
