E Ink, RIMOWA Launch Electronic Paper Equipped Smart Suitcases

E Ink, an Electronic Paper Displays supplier, announced today that the company has cooperated with luggage brand RIMOWA and German Lufthansa to jointly launch a smart suitcase product. Combined with E Ink Mobius electronic paper displays, Bluetooth wireless technology and Lufthansa's APP, to showcase the boarding information of passenger by Electronic Paper Display, which can greatly enhance the convenience and safety of luggage check-in, and to reduce the time of claiming luggage.
Passengers can check-in their luggage at home or on the way to airport by using the "RIMOWA Electronic Tag" while taking Lufthansa flights. Passengers can transfer their boarding information to RIMOWA Electronic Tag via Bluetooth, which luggage information can be displayed immediately on this smart suitcase.
The size of RIMOWA Electronic Tag is the same to the current paper luggage tag. Even in wet, high and low temperature enviroment, or under shock or vibration, RIMOWA Electronic Tag will not be affected, and will not fall off or be removed, whuch can pervent luggage form lost in the way of transporting.
Dr. Frank Ko, the Chairman and CEO of E Ink, said that the E ink Electronic Paper Displays is going to be more popular relying on its bi-stable character, unable to supply by other display, low power-consumption to display still image and the displayed information is Always On. Such advantages are especially appropriate for the application of display without changing at all times, thus baggage tag is a good case to apply.
