The Open Compute Project (OCP) is specifically designed to standardize hyperscale solutions, building the most efficient servers, storage, and data center infrastructure with the greatest operational cost savings.
Lite-On noted that the company will share its array of solid-state solutions to reduce operational complexity in the scalable computing space at the summit. As enterprise companies grow, scaling can be challenging.
Lite-On’s PCIe M.2 solid-state drives are currently adopted and used by one of the world’s largest cloud service providers. The M.2 is the size of a stick of gum, reducing the datacenter’s footprint. As a high-density drive, it allows more SSDs to be integrated into a single server.
With low power consumption and a small form factor, the drive requires less cooling (airflow demand) which further reduces the total cost of ownership. Lite-On’s M.2 solution also offers power loss protection, end-to-end data protection, high endurance and sustained performance.
“We are excited to participate at OCP this year. According to one study, over 50 trillion GBs of data will be consumed in 2020 and behind the number, there’s a platform that supports the data explosion,” said Darlo Perez, Managing Director of Lite-On Americas.
“Lite-On storage will be at the head of that growth, and continue to support the storage built onto this platform. We are committed and continually invest in R&D to deliver the best SSD, meeting the growing demand.”
