TSMC: 7nm Technology Will Have Advantage Over Samsung

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) on June 7 held a shareholders meeting, which was presided over by Morris Chang himself. Morris Chang stated that in 2016 TSMC will continue to experience positive growth and have a successful year. At the same time, he also had a positive outlook on the competitiveness of their 7nm technology.

Morris Chang stated that this year’s world economic environment and semiconductor industry are similar to those of last year and considerably sluggish. Nevertheless, TSCM will still have 5% ~ 10% increase in revenue.
Morris Chang pointed out that the global economy was sluggish in 2015, and the semiconductor also showed no improvement with a growth rate of nearly zero.
“Our mission is to still have the capability of continuing to earn money for our shareholders even when the larger environment is unfavorable,” said Morris Chang.
With regards to their technological development, Morris Chang is optimistic about the competitiveness of TSMC’s 7nm manufacturing and believes that it has an advantage over Samsung’s technology.
