Gaming Big Names and VR Heating Up Taipei Game Show

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taipei Game Show 2017 (TGS 2017), one of the largest gaming trade shows in Asia, was kick off from January 19 to 24 in Taipei, Taiwan. This exhibition is not only pulling in the general players, but also attracting business visitors who interesting in the gaming industry.

Catering to both business buyers and consumers, the show is organized into two major sections: "B2B Zone" (Jan. 19-20) and "B2C Area" (Jan. 20-24), featuring a total of 1,550 booths and 311 exhibitors from 26 countries across North East Asia, South East Asia, Europe, and Americas.
Another co-located event—Asia Pacific Game Summit (APGS), January 19-20—features 23 speech sessions delivered by gaming industry experts from around the world.
According to Newzoo, 58% of the global gaming market growth comes from Asia Pacific in 2016. China, Japan, and Korea rank among the top five in terms of revenue. Taiwan also takes 15th place with US$980 million in revenue. Clearly, the market potential of Asia Pacific is not to be underestimated.
TCA (Taipei Computer Association), organizer of the TGS, said that there are three key points make TGS 2017 worth visiting. First, it gathers the world's latest VR gaming experiences in one place. Visitors get to experience the latest VR games from Sony Interactive Entertainment Taiwan, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Taiwan, HTC VIVE, Google Play, G2A.COM, and INDIE HOUSE, which features independent developers from Taiwan, Korea, Japan, U.S., Hong Kong, and Italy.
Second, TGS 2017 brings the world's best known games across multiple platforms to gamers, including online, mobile, and console games such as "Glory Of Immortais", "FOR HONOR", "Black Desert", "Monster Strike", "Tower of Savior", "Persona 5", "Ragnarok Online", and 100+ other blockbuster and classic games. Professional esports gear brands such as Tt eSPORTS, HyperX, and ZOWIE are also here with exciting activities and experiences.
Third, TGS 2017 features the most comprehensive lineup of Taiwanese Games. With over 30 games in the lineup, including those featured in Taiwan Pavilion (built with academic, industry, and government resources) and those from independent developers, this is definitely the biggest showcase ever for Taiwanese games.
Moreover, there are the largest-ever Board Game Wonderland for board game fans and the super-popular INDIE HOUSE, which global indie game will be showcased in. In addition, TGS Live broadcast, which is brought by the organizer and Twitch, will stream the live event to the world in Chinese, English, and Japanese.
TCA noted that this year Taipei Game Show is focusing on the theme: “In the Game, To the World.” With VR technologies, gamers can now actually be in the worlds of games, such as becoming Michael Jordon on a basketball court, Messi on a soccer field or even the Batman to save the world. Gamers will be able to fully explore all kinds of in-game worlds and experience their wonders like never before.
